Mechanical Design & Development Engineer - Team Lead - Medical Devices

Salary £60K+

This Team Lead Engineer role is for cartridge subsystems and will report to the Global R&D Lead. You will lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians in the development of a disposable cartridge. The team lead will be responsible for driving all stages of the design and development of a complex consumable microfluidic device from concept, design, development, verification and validation to manufacture and successful launch.

Qualifications & Experience

*PhD (preferred), MSc or BSc in an engineering discipline with knowledge of mechanics and/or fluidics
*Significant industry experience in the complete design and development of cartridge systems for IVD products
*Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
*Experience with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ProE or other)
*Practical experience in a manufacturing environment and understanding of manufacturing processes.
*Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
*Experience managing a team of engineers and technicians
*Excellent administrative, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

*Experience in the molecular diagnostics space
*Experience with Next Generation Sequencing
*Experience with microfluidics (strongly preferred), materials and instrumentation
*Experience with mathematical computing and broad knowledge of analysis tools such as Matlab, Excel and LabView
*Experience developing and managing project plans using tools such as Microsoft Project
*Experience using Agile methodologies
