Mechanical Design Engineer - Special Purpose Machinery - East Yorkshire
One of the UK's leading specialist machine manufacturers is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design/Continuous Improvement Engineer on a permanent basis to join the existing Design team. This role will primarily include working on the development of existing designs from a lean and efficiency point of view.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will have strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and experience of DFMEA and DFM methods (essential). Working closely with the company's QC, lean, purchasing and production departments, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities for potential improved efficiencies from both a manufacturing and assembly viewpoint. These will be implemented in an efficient and cost effective manner, avoiding scrap and waste at every opportunity. The candidate will need to communicate well with both internal and external suppliers whilst performing the role.
The successful applicant will ideally be a time served mechanical engineer, with a strong, proven background in 3D Mechanical Design (preferably using Solid Edge or Solid Works). Ideally they will hold a degree and/or HNC and have relevant Mechanical Design experience with a strong detailing and design capability, including experience in carrying out improvements and changes to current mechanical design.
The company is currently looking to expand the R&D and continuous improvements departments meaning there is an immediate requirement for engineers.
The salary will be dependent on the individual's experience and aptitude.
