Mechanical Designer - Cambridgeshire - Electronics Packaging
I'm seeking an enthusiastic and flexible designer to enhance my clients mechanical design capability.
Projects are largely based around my clients core radio capability and range from low volume special equipment, through to complex consumer products designed for low cost, high volume manufacture. You will work on my clients own suite of products which range from vehicle tracking, through to street lighting control and solid-state radar.
This is a challenging role requiring a breadth of knowledge and experience rather than a narrow specialism.
You must be able to show demonstrable experience of packaging electronics for a variety of applications.
You will also be able to demonstrate understanding and experience of the following: 3D CAD (preferably Creo 2.0 Pro/Engineer), materials selection, manufacturing and finishing processes, use of product sealing techniques and understanding of principles of EMC protection.
You will have a working knowledge of diverse manufacturing processes: injection-moulding, sand and die-casting, sheet metal fabrication, precision machining, as well as practiced use of appropriate prototyping techniques.
An advantage would be experience within the medical devices field.
It is important that you are able to integrate with and be a productive member of small project teams. You will be able to manage own time, working on a number of projects simultaneously, and be willing to work the hours needed to achieve a deadline.
The role is subject to the applicant being able to gain SC security clearance.
