Mechanical Engineering Manager - Surrey

Duties & Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineering manager's primary responsibility is the design, development and delivery of the mechanical systems with particular emphasis on "Concept Development". Additional responsibilities include the design, development and delivery of test, measurement and prototype manufacturing equipment to support prototype build and testing. The position will work closely with other functional teams to ensure delivery of objectives.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

*Technical lead for mechanical concept product engineering from definition, through planning, design, analysis, timing & releasing, prototyping and testing for concept verification sign-off
*Day to day leadership of the mechanical engineering team and prototype manufacturing in UK
*Set short and long term goals for the function
*Develop and recruit best-in-class talents
*Ensure a robust product development process and suitable facilities are defined, understood, managed and capable of handling multiple products
*Develop and manage systems and procedures to drive concept development excellence
*Provide leadership for mechanical problem definition and failure analysis following new product development testing in UK
*Lead designs for new test processes and equipment as required in UK facilities
*Provide technical expertise to Shanghai based Mechanical Engineering team as required

Beneficial Knowledge and Experience

*Excellent Engineering or Technical degree
*Post graduate qualification desirable
*Demonstrable experience of delivering a quality product to a demanding customer
*Practical engineering and product aptitude and understanding
*Strong experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 Product Engineering functions and/or electrical machines.
*Experience in technical management in a global multicultural environment
*Practical six sigma knowledge and understanding desirable
