Process / Production / Manufacturing Engineer - Electro-Mechanical
Based in Teddington the Process Engineer will work for a company who specialises in manufacturing high performance products. The main purpose of the role will be to support the transfer of new products and equipment from Engineering to Production. Use key performance indicators to drive production improvement and efficiency projects and Implement a culture of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Core responsibilities will be as follows:
Work closely with the Production Manager and the Quality team to support and improve the production assembly and test processes:
*Deliver implementation and application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques including Lean / Six Sigma to processes.
*Use production metrics, with a focus on yield and throughput, to drive continuous process improvement projects.
*Use quality tools to record and investigate production issues (both internal and external/supplier) and ensure these are correctly logged, monitored and escalated where appropriate.
*Create and maintain work instructions, training and improvement plans;
*Work with operators to ensure adequate training is received and to promote best working practices.
*Analyse process failure modes (P-FMEA), root causes and production downtime to recommend design reliability and efficiency improvements.
*Work with Engineering to develop and maintain the calibration and maintenance system (with TPM & 5S methodology).
*Provide Production requirements to Design Engineering when new equipment and production software is required.
*Act as the Production point of contact for the Engineering Design team during the transfer of product upgrades, new products and equipment into production.
To be successful in this role the Process Engineer will have the following skills and experience
*Electronics or electromechanical background
*Demonstrated in depth practical experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
*Strong problem solving skills
*Experience with using quality tools
*Knowledge of SPC & statistical methods
*Experience of conducting internal audits
*Able to carry out investigations and produce reports.
*Can use Microsoft Office Products
*Experience of low volume, high value engineering
*Experience of Lean / Six Sigma / TPM or similar
*Experience of measurement in a large test equipment environment
*Experience of technical authoring
*Knowledge of MRP systems
*Methodical and well organised approach
*Attention to detail and follow through
*Ability to communicate and influence at all levels in the organisation, both verbally and in writing
*Flexible and adaptable to change
*Willing to undertake training to improve and develop skills
*Able to work under pressure and deliver to tight timescales on occasion
