Senior Mechanical Engineer - Complex Instrumentation - Cambridge

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will deliver "concept to manufacture" engineering research design and development services to clients across a broad range of sectors. These include communications, healthcare and consumer products. On offer is an exciting variety of work and also the opportunity to see an initial idea develop into a real tangible product over a relatively short time period.

In this job you will:
*Occasionally lead small teams of engineers in relation to those engineering activities
*Support senior colleagues in relation to a variety of client facing responsibilities
*Help ensure that technology projects are delivered in line with clients' expectations and agreed constraints, as directed by senior colleagues
*Create innovative concepts for new technologies
*Undertake detailed engineering analysis
*Assist in building demonstrators of selected engineering solutions
*Ensure design's meet with associated regulatory landscape
*Understanding of quality control and risk management
*Help ensure the effective transfer of designs to manufacture

We expect you will have:

*Minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject or equivalent experience
*A good level of understanding of mechanical engineering systems and the potential to develop this further, in relation to building knowledge and expertise around wider system functionality
*An impressive background in designing & developing complex mechanical engineering systems
*Effective communications skills that allow you build trusting relationships, through both face to face interactions and various other communication channels, as well as being able to translate complex technical information
*Understanding of plastic moulding part and tool design
*Evidence base demonstrating the ability to help deliver projects to expectations and agreed constraints
*Strong analytical and problem solving skills
