My Bristol based Client within the Microelectronics sector has an urgent requirement for a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for the day to day Technical support and administration for the Research and Development Unix Environment.


Responsibilities:


* Be responsible for the day to day technical support and administration task for R&D Unix environment

* Install and configure new systems based on global standards

* Provide 2nd and 3rd tier response, analysis and resolution planning for dated issues and seek appropriate solutions

* Plan and perform preventive maintenance and performance tuning on environment in interaction with load scheduling layer and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) applications

* Design and development of solutions for environment based on business requirements in alignment with global IT organisation

* Document system processes and procedures

* Regional communication channel to business community and global RD Unix team

* In addition, secondary support for Windows Client environment including

* Responsibility for the day to day technical support and administration tasks for Windows (7 and 10) Clients

* 1st and 2nd Level support for client infrastructure

* ·Experience of Datacentre operations (A/C, power, UPS related topics) would be advantageous


Profile:


* Bachelor's Degree in IT related courses with minimum 5 years of relevant experience

* Experience in administration of heterogeneous, complex enterprise environments (Unix based - RHEL/Solaris, LDAP, NFS)

* Programming skills such as Shell script, Python, Perl

* System configuration management experience (eg. Puppet)

* Experience with Load Sharing Facility and Container based infrastructure (eg. Docker) knowledge would be added advantage

* Strong and hands-on skills in communication with internal customers

* Ability to create and understand the big picture in complex situations
