Senior/Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Excellent role on offer for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who wants to work for a small but expanding team where you will have lots of responsibility, and the chance to work on new products designed for harsh environments.

We're Looking For

A professionally qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience developing electro-mechanical products for rugged environments.

About you

* 10 years plus experience in industry
*Excellent mechanical engineering aptitude.
*Proven ability to design solutions from a 'blank sheet'.
*Experience with a variety of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
*Track record of working on complex assemblies for harsh environments.
*Strong attention to detail, willingness to work with suppliers until job done.
*Track record of meeting cost targets and customer requirements.
*Able to travel globally to visit customer or suppliers as required.
*Proficiency in SolidWorks, or equivalent.

Role & responsibilities

*Design mechanical components and assemblies to target cost, quality and timescales.
*Generate detailed designs, assemblies and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
*Work with multidisciplinary teams to design and develop new products.
*Solve problems cooperatively, and develop junior colleagues.
*Liaise with sub-contractors to produce mechanical components.
*Coordinate subcontractors and perform mechanical and functional testing.
*Generate technical documents in support of projects e.g. BOMs, test plans and reports
*Perform tolerance analysis of CAD assemblies and machined parts.
*Planning and estimating of project mechanical effort and cost.
*Other tasks and projects as required.
