Systems Engineering Manager

A new opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineering Manager to manage a team of systems engineers based in Edinburgh. Working alongside an experienced team of Analog IC Design engineers, you will be working on leading Systems level Design for advanced power control ICs for a range of applications including automotive and industrial. In this position, you will take on a leadership role in the area of Automotive systems and motor control steering systems. You will also be tasked with talking to customers to ascertain what their requirements are and then defining products from concept through to definition development and verifying the chip.
You will be involved quality and support aspects of product development and will also be helping test engineers to get the product into production and further promote these products to customers. Working closely with the design team you will be involved in demo boards, some software as well as writing promotion material. This is a varied position which would be ideal for a Systems Architect and/or Systems Engineer or a Lead/Principal Analog IC Designer looking for an opportunity to work more at system definition level and to have a chance to be more involved with customers.
As well as the tasks described you would be leading a team of 8-10 engineers. The ideal applicant will have significant industry experience and will have a deep technical understanding of Analog IC Design and technologies and what is possible in regards to IC Design. You will have the ability to communicate this and discuss with customers, ask the right questions and present products. Proven customer facing experience is highly desired and an understanding of software is ideal. The successful Systems Engineering Manager will ideally have a working knowledge of transistor level MOS and bipolar Analog IC Design, Analog and Mixed Signal systems and architectures with experience in some or all of the following; comparators, charge pumps, op-amps, DC-DC converters, power output stages, linear regulators, ADC's.
Strong experience is required in design tools - Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre. Experience with motor control and power switching is highly desired. You should have a strong sense of initiative with an innovative and creative approach to new designs and problem solving. Strong leadership ability is required for this role and excellent communication skills are essential. There is an opportunity for some travel to ASIA, Europe and the US also in this role.
