A pioneering deep-tech company developing next-generation AI hardware is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer<\/strong> to join its growing engineering team in Oxford.<\/span><\/p>\n

Working on revolutionary accelerator technology, you’ll play a key role in developing the firmware, device drivers and real-time control software that sit at the heart of a completely new computing platform. This is a rare opportunity to work on custom silicon, low-level software and cutting-edge AI infrastructure, taking hardware from first bring-up through to production deployment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The role:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

You’ll join a highly experienced multidisciplinary engineering team, owning the embedded software stack that enables advanced accelerator hardware to operate reliably in real-world systems. This is a hands-on position covering Linux drivers, firmware development, BSP bring-up and RTOS-based control software.<\/span><\/p>\n

What you’ll be doing:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Developing and maintaining Linux kernel and bare-metal device drivers<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Writing firmware for embedded control and management processors<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Bringing up new hardware revisions from initial power-on through to stable system boot<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Developing RTOS-based control software with deterministic behaviour<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Debugging hardware\/software integration issues using JTAG, oscilloscopes and logic analysers<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Supporting BSP development including clocking, interrupts and peripheral initialisation<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Working closely with hardware engineers to diagnose and resolve low-level system challenges<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Defining coding standards, code review processes and embedded software testing methodologies<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What we’re looking for:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    Essential<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
      \n
    • Five or more years of embedded software in C\/C++ on production hardware (a degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent experience).<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Proven experience writing Linux device drivers: character, platform or PCIe.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Hands-on board support package bring-up on custom hardware, from schematic review to first OS boot.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • A solid grasp of RTOS concepts: task scheduling, inter-task communication, memory protection.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Proficiency with hardware debug tools: JTAG\/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes and logic analysers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
