This is an onsite role based in Oxford\ud83d\udd2c<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">You will lead system design from concept through build, testing and productisation, offering significant technical ownership, with the opportunity to influence system architecture, performance and development strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\"><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Lead the design and development of advanced short pulse laser systems from concept through to deployment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Develop and optimise CPA architectures, including mode-locked oscillators, solid-state\/OPA amplifiers, pulse shaping, stretchers and compressors<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Model broadband pulse amplification approaches to support system development<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Own technical design decisions and trade-offs across performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Support hands-on build, testing, troubleshooting and validation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Mentor and provide technical leadership<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\"><strong>Requirementss:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics or related discipline, or equivalent experience<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong background in short pulse lasers, ultrafast and nonlinear optics<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Hands-on experience with short pulse laser diagnostics and characterisation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Expertise in broadband amplification, including CPA and\/or OPCPA<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong experimental experience designing, building and testing complex optical systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Proven experience leading technically demanding research or product development projects<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Good understanding of laser safety and laboratory best practice<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\"><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">High-power\/high-energy ultrafast laser experience<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience designing stretchers and compressors<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience with system integration, control systems or Zemax<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience translating system requirements into specifications and working with suppliers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience in precision laser laboratories or cleanrooms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\"><strong>Package &amp; Location<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Competitive salary, depending on experience<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Employee share options<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Flexible working where compatible with lab activities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">If you&#8217;re interested, get in touch with Ella Flynn at IC Resources.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\ud83d\udd2cMy client is looking for a Lead Laser Scientist to provide hands-on technical leadership in the development of next-generation femtosecond and picosecond laser systems.
