This role requires a deep understanding of photonic technologies and the practical realities of taking devices from research concepts through to manufacturable solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">You will work closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to ensure the successful development and delivery of high-performance photonic devices, while helping shape the company\u2019s broader photonics roadmap.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Expertise required<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Deep expertise in photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technologies, spanning design, fabrication, packaging, and testing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong knowledge of photonic design and simulation environments such as Lumerical, IPKISS, Nazca, GDSFactory, or equivalent tools<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Extensive understanding of foundry processes, PDKs, and tape-out workflows, including experience engaging with external fabrication partners<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Expertise in optical and electrical integration approaches, including packaging strategies for photonic devices<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience guiding device characterisation, measurement techniques, and performance validation methodologies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong appreciation of the end-to-end development pathway from concept and modelling through to manufacturable photonic systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship within a collaborative, fast-moving startup environment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Background<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">MSc or PhD in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Significant industry or advanced research experience in integrated photonics or optical device development<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering team<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\"><strong>If you have a deep background in integrated photonics, please get in touch with Phil Wright at IC Resources.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lead Photonics Engineer will act as the organisation\u2019s technical authority across the PIC development, contributing expertise across architecture, design, fabrication engagement, packaging strategy, and device characterisation.
