Q: What are you looking forward to the most this year?

A: 2022 has been dubbed the ‘year of change’. For me, this means I am looking forward to the opportunity to help those who are looking for a change in their career and to find the best match to what they are seeking in their next role.

Q: What do you see as some of the biggest challenges in the current Analog / RF IC market?

A: The shortage of talent. Over the years and especially in 2021, the demand for Analog and RF IC design engineers has grown significantly! This has opened the market up to an abundance of exciting new opportunities for engineers. Whilst at the same time is has increased the challenges to find the right talent for these positions and the lack of new graduates training in Analog IC Design is a lot lower than demand requires which has complied the issue.

Q: How has the market changed since you have worked for IC Resources?

A: I’ve been working for IC Resources for over 15 years now, so the market has evolved a lot in that time. The recruitment process has changed, especially in recent times due to COVID 19 with the interview process has mainly taking place via video conferencing such as zoom and teams. The industry has also changed a lot in that time too; there have been plenty of large acquisitions in recent years  but we have also seen a steady emergence of innovative start ups.

Q: How do you see the market changing as the years go on?

A: The global increase in real world demand for integrated circuits has led to a rise in demand for Analog IC Design Engineers. This has also led to salaries rising and remote working becoming more mainstream. I see this demand to continue to increase and salaries to rise even higher. I foresee remote working being a part of future working practices but also a return to the office in an agreed balance between the needs of the clients and wants of the engineer.

Q: What is your nick name at IC Resources?

A: After working the Analog IC market for 15 years I am quite often referred to as “The Analog King” hence my custom made cup
