Security Boom at Smart IoT London

To recruit effectively for the technology industry, IC Resources’ consultants need to understand the tech industry. Inside out –  where it is, how it’s changing and who is changing it. Smart IoT London 2019 is a great place to do that.

Just under an hour by train from our offices in Theale, over 19,000 Smart Internet specialists met from all over the world to learn what’s up and coming.

With talks around topical issues impacting the industry and hundreds of exhibitor stalls, there was something for everyone. At Smart IoT London 2019 at the EXCEL centre, the main topics are Big Analytics, APIs, Blockchain, Internet security and machine learning.  It’s particularly renowned for the quality of its speakers, Smart IoT has made a space for itself on the world stage.

Security seemed to be one of the biggest growth areas this year at the exhibition, which is no surprise given the current security threat climate, and recent changes in regulations impacting businesses of all sizes.

There were some creative ways of attracting visitors to stalls with card games, demos, GDPR quizzes, and even hats to catch the attention of passers-by. I found myself wishing I had worn flat shoes as I walked the exhibition halls, catching up with companies such as; Neustar, Asteria, Kyocera, Panda, Data Pillar and more.

In February, myself and Dom visited Embedded World. We picked up on a lot of hesitancy in the shadow of the current Brexit uncertainty. Certainly, in the last month, this hasn’t changed. So, it’s becoming apparent that Brexit (or not) is affecting sales as well as recruitment. Only time will deliver the reassurance the market needs, but the question at this very moment is how much time?.
