AI Research Engineer
Surrey, England (Approximately 15 miles from Central London) - On-site at least 3 days a week
IC Resources is looking for a passionate AI Research Engineer with a recently completed PhD (under 2 years) or near-completion. The ideal AI Research Engineer will have strong expertise in Multimodal Foundation Models, focusing on areas such as Visual Language Models, Large Language Models, Vision Transformers, and Diffusion Models.
This role offers the opportunity to have your research deployed globally in real-world consumer products and to join a well-established research team working on on-device AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pioneering research to develop advanced solutions and propose innovative research challenges in Multimodal AI
- Develop high-quality, well-documented code to support reproducible research within local and international AI research communities
- Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals, such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, ACL, STOC, IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE TSP, IEEE TIP, Information Fusion, JAIR, IJRR, IJCV, and JMLR
- Current PhD student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Proficiency in fundamental topics of mathematics (calculus, probability, statistics, linear algebra, optimisation) and computer science (algorithms, data structures, parallel/distributed computing)
- Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, C, and C++.
- At least one first-author publication in top-tier conferences or journals including NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, EMNLP, ACL, IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TNNLS, IJCV, or JMLR.
- Proven research output in Multimodal Foundation Models, specifically in Visual Language Models, Large Language Models, Vision Transformers, or Diffusion Models.
- Familiarity with software libraries and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, SciKits, Kaldi, OpenCV, and CUDA.
- Background in software engineering and development.
- Relevant experience through internships or research positions in academic or industrial R&D labs.
- Capability to design and implement a comprehensive research agenda.
