I am looking for a Buyer to join our client in Surrey. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company in an exciting high technology area at the forefront of new developments powering the green revolution within the semiconductor industry.

As Buyer, you will report directly into the Purchasing Manager and will be working closely with the operations, purchasing and stores teams. You will be required to assist with running the MRP, dealing with sundry requirement, placing purchase orders and keeping the approved vendor list up to date. The Buyer will need to be able to search for alternatives with the support of the engineering and R&D departments and assist the Purchasing Project Lead with shortages to keep delivery schedules on time.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Work with Key suppliers on ensuring product is delivered on time.
  • Update scorecards for ‘key’ suppliers and regularly review performance.
  • Work closely with the Quality team to ensure any issues are fed back to suppliers and dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Deal with general queries and correspondence with internal and or external customers (mainly via email).
  • Run the MRP
  • Maintain and update purchasing processes and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Send out RFQs
  • Send out PO’s based on best economic order quantities/price breaks
  • Update and maintain excel spreadsheets on department spends
  • Update and maintain credit card spend
  • Liaise with Engineering on any new parts received, as alternatives or due to EOL, updating SmartVision and Suppliers were necessary.
  • Changing delivery dates in SV, changing prices on Purchase Orders, making any amendments on orders.
  • Strong organisational skills. Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and good reasoning skills to spot errors quickly and report them to relevant staff
  • Proficiency with industry-standard computer packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and internal systems 
Qualifications & Educational requirements:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Proven administrative skills, working in a logistics/operations/Purchasing environment
  • Strong process mindset and confidence to challenge requests outside of the process
  • Good standard of spoken and written English and sound numerical skills
