IT Network Engineer

A German based Consultancy is seeking a skilled IT Network Engineer to join on a Freelance basis.

Job Summary: The IT Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting our network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house and customer network services, troubleshooting network issues, and optimizing network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Configure and install various network devices and services.
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
• Troubleshoot network-related issues and provide technical support.
• Collaborate with IT team members and other departments to support overall IT infrastructure.
• Develop and implement network policies and procedures to ensure network security and compliance.
• Maintain documentation for network configuration, processes, and service records.
• Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
• Hands-on experience with hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
• German & English language skills are required (B2 level minimum)
