Senior RF Systems Engineer

We are currently working with an industry leading space satellite company based in Oxford looking to bring a Senior RF Systems Engineer into their Chief Engineering team to provide technical support, mentoring and guidance in RF Antenna Design and System Engineering. 

In this position as a Senior RF Systems Engineer you will be responsible for:

• Offering technical guidance and mentorship to engineers specialising in RF design and verification to support project implementation.
• Overseeing RF engineering tasks across multiple projects, including the design, analysis, testing, and delivery of deployable Reflector, Filar, and Patch Array Antennas. This includes developing detailed designs and specifications for transmission lines, feed components, and Baluns.
• Contributing technical expertise to the Business Development team when preparing technical proposals for customers, leveraging insights gained from previous experience, particularly in defence and security projects.
• Engaging in negotiations and provide interpretation of technical issues, requirements, design solutions, and trade-offs with customers, fostering strong relationships to establish trust in the expertise and advice provided.
• Generating documentation for various stages of design, including definition, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing.
• Organising and participate in RF testing and verification activities and prepare comprehensive test reports.
• Staying updated on RF technology advancements and trends within the space industry, while maintaining connections with academia to contribute to internal tool development and future product programs.
• Ensuring the implementation of consistent RF engineering policies, processes, and procedures to deliver RF engineering outputs in a standardised manner.

The ideal candidate for this position as a Senior RF Systems Engineer should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a Physics, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering related field. In addition to this you will need strong knowledge of RF and antenna design theory is required, including understanding of related concepts such as PIM (Passive Intermodulation), power handling, and multipactor effects. Also a proficiency in utilising one or more RF software packages, such as CST Microwave, ESTEAM, HFSS, and GRASP, is essential, with demonstrable experience in their application.
