This position covers optical design and assembly integration. The ideal Optical Engineer would have the opportunity to work across R&amp;D, testing and system development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">This is an onsite position based in Oxford.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Responsibilities<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Design optical and photonic sub-systems for laser communication applications<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Define system requirements and perform trade-off analysis between performance and cost<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Model and optimise optical systems including tolerancing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Conduct breadboard testing to validate simulation results<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Assemble, integrate and test optical sub-systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Support system-level testing and field trials<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Work with suppliers on optical component selection and specification<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Provide technical input and support subsystem development activities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Requirements<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience defining requirements and performing trade studies for optical systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong optical design experience using Zemax or similar tools<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Hands-on experience with lasers, detectors, modulators and fibre\/free-space optics<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Practical lab experience building and testing optical systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Understanding of optical system performance and trade-offs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong problem-solving and analytical skills<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">If you\u2019re interested in the position of Optical Engineer, please contact Ella Flynn for more details.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My client is looking for an Optical Engineer focused on laser communication systems.
