IC Resources has recently surveyed over 1,000 people in the technology industry, in order to learn more about the representation of women in technology companies in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Republic of Ireland (ROI), Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, and France. <\/p>\n

The research reveals that men outnumber women in technical and management roles and, across Europe, with seven out of ten people believing that their organisation should do more to encourage women to join the industry. <\/p>\n

This report sets out the findings and compares attitudes across Europe, as well as exploring ways in which the gender balance could be improved. <\/p>\n

IC Resources Founder \/ Director Neil Dickins comments:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Whilst the research we have undertaken has not shown us much that we didn’t already know, the more we highlight these important industry issues, the faster we hope a positive change will happen. We believe that by showcasing the achievements of female engineers, we can encourage more young women into the sector. Industry organisations such as the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) are vital. UKESF is active in creating links between your female engineers and girls in school – probably the best way to inspire them to take STEM degrees.   Last year the ‘UKESF Scholar of the Year’ award, went to Joanna Taylor and the runner up was Mara Terente. This year the nominations are 50% female, which is great to see, given that no preference is given based on gender. It’s crucial to actively promote diversity and highlight the benefits that companies derive from a diverse workforce. When we undertake this research again in ten years we hope the results show a very different story.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
