Contract Buyer (3-6months) – Worcester

Job summary:

Procurement of materials, parts and services. Tracking and expediting all materials and to process financial invoices/sales orders/costing issues.

Main responsibilities:

  • Purchasing all UK specified materials
  • Tracking and reporting on incoming parts relating to the build schedule and forecast
  • Highlighting any issues or potential problems with UK purchased parts at the weekly Supply chain meeting
  • Processing orders on QTC and SAP systems
  • Booking in orders for labour/services and all materials that do not deliver directly to the plant
  • Running the exception report in SAP to capture unwanted purchases
  • Creating and monitoring shortage reports for all parts
  • Arranging transport for the collection of materials from Europe, Asia and the USA
  • Managing the delivery of stock from offsite storage locations 
  • Identifying any rectifying issues with customer sales orders
  • Work with vendors to assure necessary quality and OTD metrics
Knowledge/skills required:
  • In depth knowledge of the SAP system, specifically the procurement and materials management functions
  • Good understanding of Supply chain management and international logistics
  • Extensive experience in building supplier relationships and managing vendors effectively            
  • Able to work to deadlines on large projects
  • Strong planning skills
  • Able to negotiate prices and lead times with suppliers
Education/experience
  • Experience in supply chain
  • Experience of the SAP ERP system
