Senior Acoustics Research Scientist

This Senior Acoustics Research Scientist vacancy is based in Oxford, UK with an award winning medtech startup who have developed a contactless in-home device for patients involved in clinical trials. They are partnered with several leading universities, hospitals, experts in the field and are now rolling out their tech across multiple continents with one of the largest pharma companies in the world. 

They have extensive funding with years of runway and you’ll be joining at an exciting stage of growth; contributing to the technological foundations on which their products will be based for years to come.

Primary responsibilities
  • Design and develop signal processing algorithms to extract acoustic signal features and biomarkers for primary data analysis
  • Tech leading responsibilities for the acoustic sensors
  • Develop models to apply suitable machine learning techniques for a variety of tasks including classification and prediction    
  • Design and implement experiments to test hypotheses, measure performance, identify sources of error and limitations in hardware and algorithms
Required experience

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, Information Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar and 2+ years minimum of industry experience in the following;
  • Digital signal processing (DSP) with acoustic signals
  • Track record of high quality publications or patents
  • Frequency content & spectrum analysis and solid understanding of the different sources of noise, signal degradation and techniques to extract meaning from raw noisy signals
  • Classical Machine Learning e.g. SVM, random forest, XGB boost
  • Python
  • Full working rights in the UK
