Application Engineer - material testing and structural monitoring
Salary 30K - 35K + bonus
I'm searching for an Application Engineer for a company involved in material testing and structural monitoring.
The majority of your time will be spent supporting existing customers, demonstrating the technology to new potential customers and undertaking consultancy assignments for the structures side of their business. Much of this work will be targeted towards supporting the activity of the sales team to win orders in the Material Testing, Components and Assemblies and Structural Monitoring businesses. This aspect of the job will call for the individual to spend time developing application solutions against client specific needs and demonstrating the technology to interested partners as and when required.
As part of the responsibilities the Application Engineer will be responsible for making sure that all our business partners (current customers, potential customers, interested parties, distributors, representatives and OEMs) are proactively supported (in regular contact with by phone or face to face). Part of the responsibilities will include the training of all current and potential users so they understand all aspects of the system and how to get the best results when used for material testing and structural monitoring. The Application Engineer will also be involved with Structural Monitoring consultancy contracts where are key OEM customers are looking to monitor various types of civil engineering structures .
The key aspects of the role will be:
*Maximise face time with current and potential users
*Technical support for opportunities, customers, sales and partners
*Typically 50% plus of time on road domestically and internationally visiting current customers, potential customers, interested parties, distributors, representatives and OEMs
*Running of technical training courses worldwide
*Regular proactive contact of customers and partners (all users)
*Experience of technical product support to a variety of end users, with a successful track record (i.e. working as an Application Engineer currently)
*HNC minimum in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a Materials related subject with 2+ years' work experience in industry.
*Aerospace, defence, automotive or motorsport background would be ideal
*A person with practical skills who is able to problem solve even when under pressure
*A proven track record internationally
*Communicate to technical and non-technical personnel clearly
*Work with initiative, autonomously but also effective in a team environment
*Willing to travel, a clean driving license and own car
*Gather market intelligence/analysis for ongoing development of new products
