Data Engineer

My client is an 'Edtech' scale-up who have 450,000 users; offices on 3 continents; and partnerships with some of the biggest companies in the world! They're gaining so much traction because they're promoting coding at a grassroots level and teaching children how to build new technology.

Based in the heart of the city, they're currently looking for a Data Engineer with the potential to become 'Head of Data' within a 12-18 month timeframe.

The initial remit will be to rewrite and future proof systems relating to:

1) Business critical functions (reports, billing, revenue operations, stock control etc).

2) Product innovation (monitoring customer usage and demographics, to influence product development).

They're 50 people in London, with a flexible approach to work and access to all key stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have the following attributes:

- Extensive knowledge of Python and SQL (3 years+)

- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines

- A thorough understanding of databases like Postgres (or similar)

- A track record designing databases and undertaking data modelling/data migrations

This company aren't producing TBs of data so a background with 'heavy weight' enterprise software won't be advantageous. This person will need to find solutions that meet business objectives without overengineering a tech stack, often independently in the absence of a large team offering support. Therefore a 'start-up' mentality would fit the bill much better.
