I'm searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who's primary responsibility will be the design, development and delivery of electro mechanical systems with particular emphasis on new product development. Additional responsibilities include the design, development and delivery of prototype electronic modules to support prototype build and testing.

 

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

 

* Managing the interface between Electronics and Mechanical Design teams to integrate electronic packs into the mechanical envelope. Experience of using technologies such as injection moulding, fretwork, PCB and flexible circuit design are essential

* Creating and refining technical mechanical parts and assembly drawings to capture design intent and document the key aspects in order to achieve project manufacturing goals

* Discussing and resolving technically complex problems with manufacturers, suppliers, customers, etc.

* Providing detailed specifications from an outline brief ensuring a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specific operating environments

* Producing outline designs and determining feasibility giving consideration to implications such as cost, safety and time constraints

* Evaluating and recommending modifications of prototypes and tooling after test results

* Liaising with suppliers with regard to specification and availability of materials and keeping abreast with latest technologies for electromagnetic/thermal design

* Producing engineering reports and presentations to management

* Providing technical support to other departments as and when required

* Supporting DFMEA activities

* Checking Engineering drawings to BS8888

* Supporting the training, development and growth of mechanical engineering talent in the Company's facilities in China

 

Relevant Knowledge & Experience:

 

* BSc in Mechanical Engineering degree is essential (first class honours is desirable)

* Proficient use of SolidWorks is essential

* 4+ years of working experience in either automotive, aerospace, power generation, white goods or power tools sectors is essential

* Chartered Engineer or working towards it in a relevant association is desirable

* Experience in heat management, casting and machining techniques is desirable

* Significant experience in Electro. Mechanical product engineering functions is essential

* Previous design experience based on ISO26262 is desirable
