Senior Planner/Planning Manager - Construction

We currently have an exclusive requirement for a Senior Planner/Planning Manager to join a Tier One main contractor in the West Yorkshire region, based from Leeds. Please note, this is a retained search assignment and our client is using only IC Resources to fill this specific position; you will be unable to make any application directly/through any other third party for this role.
Our client is a major "tier one" main contractor with offices and operations across the UK and a turnover in excess of £1.5bn. Their project portfolio of past and existing projects covers the complete range of construction and building schemes, from high profile commercial high-rises and mixed use developments, to complicated refurbishments within the education and health sector. We have been retained to seek a Senior Planner/Planning Manager for a permanent position in the West Yorkshire area, based from Leeds. Reporting directly into the Regional Director, you will take ownership of a small planning team covering the Yorkshire region, typically on projects up to circa £40m each, with the odd scheme in excess of this.
You will have complete ownership of all preconstruction and live projects and be responsible for the development and training of your own planning team. As a result, you must be a confident individual and technically competent but also patient in the mentoring of others. Above all, our client is looking for someone who has the hunger and desire to continue to lead, grow and develop the planning team and offering in the region. Our client can accommodate a three month notice period; we are commencing the search now and would like someone in place by Christmas at the absolute latest.
This could be a great opportunity for either a Senior Planner with some man management experience to take the next step in their career or a Planning Manager who would like a new challenge with a stable, well-known name in the Yorkshire region. Although local market knowledge is preferable, our client will consider an individual looking to relocate/return to the West Yorkshire area if they meet the other criteria.
The requirements for the role are as follows:
- Significant construction planning in the UK and a sound knowledge of UK construction techniques.
- Preconstruction and live project experience.
- Previous experience of having direct planning reports (i.e. man management experience).
- A relevant construction/engineering advantageous, although not essential.
- Comfortable engaging with senior internal stakeholders within the business.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
