My rapidly expanding and very well-funded start up client within the Mobile Autonomy sector has an urgent requirement for a Systems Administrator to be based in Oxford. The role will be to support mixed operating systems involved in technical development and deployment as well as involvement in the standardisation and deployment of laptops and desktops used by Software Engineers.


The role:

  • Server and Service configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and backups across Linux and macOS operating systems, including automated configuration management
  • Systems monitoring and alerting (automated where possible) to ensure coverage of all critical systems' health
  • Ownership of deployment/packaging systems across multiple OSs (Linux, macOS)
  • Maintenance of cyber-security standards
  • Maintenance and upgrades of networking hardware and software across multiple sites
  • Monitoring and configuration of networks
  • Maintenance of communication infrastructure across multiple sites, including VoIP and video conferencing systems
  • Supporting, troubleshooting, standardising new and existing systems
  • Development and maintenance of documentation to a high standard, supporting knowledge transfer to the infrastructure team.


Skills required:


  • Strong Experience administering Linux and macOS systems
  • Experience in systems administration for a commercial software house (ideally where the software was deployed to hardware platforms)
  • Commercial experience in supporting networking infrastructure
  • Experience in security for accounts, data, and communication
  • Excellent communication skills


Desirable skills:


  • Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of continuous integration
  • Experience with commercial endpoint deployment systems
  • A passion for new technology
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management technologies
  • Experience administering cloud computing services
