As a Principal Optical Engineer, you will take Optical Systems from prototype through to production. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">This is an onsite role, based in London.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Responsibilities<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Own the optical architecture and design strategy for the current product and future roadmap<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Define optical design intent from concept through to production<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Lead optical development across Engineering Verification, Design Validation and Production Validation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Review, approve and sign off Zemax optical designs prior to manufacture<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Develop simulation-led optical designs, replacing iterative prototyping with robust design methodology<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Define optical performance, tolerancing, error budgets, thermal and mechanical constraints, and calibration strategies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Optimise precision optical systems for encoding performance and system reliability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Balance optical performance with manufacturability, packaging, cost and scalability<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Collaborate closely with mechanical and mechatronics engineers on system integration, alignment and precision motion<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Define clear optical requirements and communicate them across multidisciplinary engineering teams<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Drive products from prototype to scalable, manufacturable production<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Requirements<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Significant industry experience in optical design or optical engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Strong Zemax experience including design, optimisation and tolerancing<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience owning major optical architecture or optical design decisions within hardware products<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience taking optical systems from prototype into verification, validation or production-intent design<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience defining optical performance budgets and calibration assumptions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Hands-on experience building, aligning, testing and validating optical systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Understanding of design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principles for optical hardware<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience working with optical suppliers on feasibility, tolerances and component selection<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Strong communication skills and ability to influence multidisciplinary engineering teams<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience leading through technical expertise rather than formal people management<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Desirable skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience with holography, optical encoding or projection systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Experience with imaging systems, microscopes or precision instrumentation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Exposure to photonics, metrology or advanced manufacturing systems<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px;color: #000000\">Benefits include
