The priority is someone who can lead engineers effectively, manage workload and technical delivery, support individual development and keep projects moving.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">You\u2019ll still be involved technically, particularly around design reviews, problem solving and engineering decisions, but the role is broader than hands-on design alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Key responsibilities will include:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Managing and developing a team of RF engineers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Allocating work and supporting project delivery<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Providing technical guidance across RF\/mmWave development<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Leading design reviews and helping manage technical risk<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Supporting engineers with problem solving and design decisions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Working across RF, mechanical, PCB, manufacturing and test teams<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Helping improve engineering processes and best practice<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Ensuring projects are delivered against technical, cost and schedule requirements<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">What they\u2019re looking for<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Our client is looking for an experienced RF or microwave engineer who has moved into team leadership or engineering management and enjoys getting the best out of other engineers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">You\u2019ll ideally have:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Previous experience managing or formally leading engineers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">A solid background in RF, microwave or mmWave engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">The ability to manage people, priorities and technical delivery<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience mentoring and developing engineers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Enough technical depth to challenge designs and support technical decisions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Strong communication skills across engineering and project teams<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Experience with RF design tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, CST or EMPro would be useful, but this role is much more about combining RF understanding with strong leadership than being a highly specialised individual contributor.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">Why consider it?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">This Lead RF Engineer position offers the chance to take genuine ownership of an RF engineering team within a business that designs, manufactures and tests advanced RF\/mmWave hardware in-house.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">It would suit someone who still wants to stay connected to RF engineering, but whose strengths increasingly lie in leading people, developing teams and delivering projects successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: 14px\">If you\u2019d like to hear more about the role, please reach out to Zac Taylor at IC Resources.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m working with a UK-based engineering business in County Durham developing advanced RF and millimetre-wave technology for telecommunications and defence applications.
