Staff FPGA Engineer

Oxfordshire, England
World Leading Quantum Opportunity
Job ID: 498467

Take ownership of the FPGA technology behind some of the world’s most advanced quantum computing systems. We are supporting a leading quantum computing company in Oxford that is pushing trapped-ion technology towards larger, more powerful and commercially scalable systems. They are looking to add a Staff FPGA Engineer to take a senior technical role within their FPGA team.

This is a highly technical, hands-on position where you’ll architect and develop critical signal processing and control functions. You’ll work across RTL design, verification, modelling, hardware testing, and system-level debugging, collaborating closely with electronics, software, and quantum engineering teams.

They are looking for a Staff FPGA Engineer with the following background:

  • 10+ years of hands-on FPGA development experience
  • Strong RTL design and verification using SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL
  • Extensive FPGA-based DSP experience, including DDC/DUC, DDS and FIR/IIR filtering
  • Experience with Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC platforms
  • Modelling and simulation using Python, MATLAB, or Simulink
  • Strong verification experience including code and functional coverage
  • Hands-on hardware debugging using JTAG, ILA, oscilloscopes and other lab equipment

Experience with JESD204B, ADC/DAC interfaces, DDR3/4, 10Gb Ethernet, digital control algorithms, embedded Linux, or ASIC development would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to take significant technical ownership while working at the forefront of one of the fastest-developing areas of quantum computing.
