FPGA Engineer – Cambridge – Wireless Communications

Build the FPGA technology behind advanced cellular communication systems. We are supporting a Cambridge-based engineering company designing and manufacturing its own wireless platforms, spanning software-defined radio, digital signal processing, and cellular base station technology. They are looking for an FPGA Engineer to strengthen their digital design team.

Working alongside experienced Senior and Principal Engineers, you’ll take ownership of significant areas of the FPGA design while continuing to develop your technical expertise. The position offers exposure to the complete product lifecycle, from initial specification and RTL development through to verification, hardware implementation, and deployment.

Day-to-day development will focus on creating and extending FPGA-based physical layer designs, implementing DSP functionality, and debugging designs on target hardware. You’ll work with both new and established RTL, giving you experience of developing production technology rather than solely greenfield projects.

They are looking for an FPGA Engineer with the following background:

  • 2+ years of commercial FPGA/RTL development experience
  • RTL coding using Verilog or VHDL
  • Experience with AMD/Xilinx 7-Series or UltraScale+ FPGAs
  • Knowledge of DSP, including filters, FFTs, correlators, and fixed-point arithmetic
  • Understanding of simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and hardware debugging
  • Experience taking FPGA designs from specification through to working hardware
  • Must have the existing right to work in the UK

Experience with 5G/LTE, MATLAB, embedded C/C++, Python, or Vivado ILA would be advantageous.

This is a strong opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level FPGA Engineer looking to develop their career alongside experienced engineers while gaining exposure to advanced wireless and SDR technology.
