This Project Manager role offers the opportunity to work on advanced space and laser communication technology within a growing deep-tech environment. You’ll help coordinate complex R&D and product development programmes, working closely with engineering teams, customers and external partners to ensure projects remain aligned, organised and moving forward. The role operates on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days per week on-site in Oxford.

Our client is developing next-generation wireless and optical communication systems designed to transform global connectivity infrastructure. As programmes continue to scale, they are looking for someone who can bring structure and strong project coordination across multiple technical workstreams.

As the Project Manager, you’ll oversee a range of engineering and development projects, supporting delivery from early-stage R&D through to testing and deployment activities.

Responsibilities include

  • Managing technical engineering projects across R&D and product development activities
  • Working closely with engineering teams to build and maintain realistic project plans
  • Managing timelines, budgets, risks and dependencies across multiple workstreams
  • Coordinating with external stakeholders including suppliers, customers and funding organisations
  • Supporting reporting, documentation and change-control processes
  • Helping improve project management tools, processes and delivery structure as the business grows

What you’ll bring

  • Experience delivering projects within technical engineering, scientific or hardware environments
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working with project management tools such as Jira or MS Project
  • Familiarity with structured product development or stage-gate processes
  • Experience working with government-funded or aerospace-related programmes is beneficial
  • Interest or exposure to space, optical, satellite or laser communication technologies is advantageous
