Our client is a space engineering organisation developing electronic hardware for satellite communications applications. Its Farnborough site includes an electronics laboratory supporting engineering and hardware verification activities.

The AIT Test Technician will provide practical laboratory support, ensuring equipment, test benches and electronic hardware are prepared, maintained and available for engineering use. The position combines hands-on electronics work with equipment calibration, stock control and accurate laboratory documentation.

What you will be working on

The role covers the day-to-day preparation and organisation of the electronics laboratory, including:

  • Maintaining test benches, cables, fixtures and associated hardware
  • Assisting engineers with hardware installation, assembly and troubleshooting
  • Carrying out soldering and PCB rework where required
  • Coordinating equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and repair
  • Tracking equipment usage, service schedules and calibration records
  • Managing stocks of cables, connectors, adapters, electronic components and laboratory consumables
  • Maintaining laboratory procedures, work instructions, equipment registers and engineering records

The AIT Test Technician will also support routine laboratory maintenance and ensure that ESD handling and wider laboratory safety procedures are followed.
