This Project Manager opportunity offers the chance to play a key role within a growing semiconductor design environment where you’ll combine project leadership with office management responsibilities. You’ll have the autonomy to drive projects forward, support a talented engineering team and help shape the day-to-day operation of a collaborative design office.
Our client develops advanced semiconductor technology and is looking for someone who can bring structure to complex engineering programmes. Rather than providing technical direction, you’ll work alongside experienced design engineers to ensure projects remain on track, risks are identified early and teams have everything they need to deliver successfully.
Reporting to the Engineering Leadership team, as the Project Manager, you’ll oversee both project delivery and the management of a small Southampton office of approximately ten engineers.
Responsibilities include
- Coordinating semiconductor design projects from planning through to delivery
- Monitoring project plans, milestones and deadlines, ensuring work progresses as planned
- Identifying risks, dependencies and process gaps, escalating issues where appropriate
- Working closely with engineering teams to ensure priorities remain aligned and deliverables are completed on time
- Acting as the people manager for the local team, supporting performance, wellbeing and day-to-day activities
- Facilitating communication across engineering teams and providing regular project updates to stakeholders
- Driving continuous improvements to project delivery processes and ways of working
What you’ll bring
- Previous experience as a Project Manager within the semiconductor, ASIC or IC design industry
- A good understanding of semiconductor design flows and engineering development processes
- The ability to recognise project risks and process gaps, even without acting as the technical expert
- Strong organisational, planning and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Previous line management or office management experience would be beneficial but is not essential
Why you’ll want to join
- Hybrid working with approximately two days on-site every two weeks
- Opportunity to combine project leadership with people management
- Work alongside highly experienced semiconductor design teams developing advanced technology
- A varied role with genuine ownership and visibility across the business
- Competitive salary, depending on experience
