Our client is a semiconductor engineering organisation specialising in RF and microwave devices, with a focus on advanced GaN and GaAs technologies.

They are looking for a Device Modelling & PDK Engineer to support RF semiconductor characterisation, compact device modelling and the development of Process Design Kits (PDKs) used in MMIC design.

The position combines hands-on RF and DC measurements, semiconductor device physics, model development and collaboration with RF design teams. Our client is open to engineers at different experience levels, including graduates and PhD researchers with strong RF fundamentals and an interest in semiconductor device modelling.

What you will be working on

  • Perform RF and DC semiconductor device characterisation, including pulsed I-V, noise and small- and large-signal microwave measurements
  • Develop and validate compact device models for GaN and GaAs semiconductor technologies
  • Support the development and improvement of Process Design Kits (PDKs) for MMIC applications
  • Carry out RF measurements and analyse device performance to support model extraction and validation
  • Work with RF and microwave measurement equipment, including vector network analysers and semiconductor test systems
  • Collaborate with device engineers and MMIC designers to understand requirements and improve model accuracy
  • Support new semiconductor process development, test programming and technical documentation

What our client is looking for

For this Device Modelling & PDK Engineer position, our client is looking for someone with knowledge or experience in:

  • RF and microwave engineering, including S-parameters, Smith charts and circuit theory
  • Semiconductor device physics and RF/DC measurement principles
  • RF or microwave device characterisation, gained through industry experience, academic research or relevant laboratory projects
  • Small- and large-signal circuit theory and device behaviour
  • Programming in an engineering, scientific or test environment
  • Analysing technical data and investigating device performance

Desirable experience includes:

  • GaN, GaAs or other compound semiconductor technologies
  • RF on-wafer testing and semiconductor device characterisation
  • Compact device modelling and parameter extraction
  • Keysight IC-CAP, ADS or Microwave Office
  • Python or LabVIEW programming
  • Process Design Kit development and validation

A degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics or a related discipline is required. Relevant academic research, postgraduate projects and industrial placements will also be considered as evidence of technical experience.

Applicants must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance.

Why consider this role?

This Device Modelling & PDK Engineer position offers the opportunity to work with advanced RF semiconductor technologies, contributing to device characterisation and modelling activities that support MMIC development.

The client offers flexibility around experience level, with opportunities for graduates through to experienced engineers, alongside technical training and development within a specialist semiconductor environment.
