Field Application Engineer – Power Electronics (Munich)

A chance to step into a high‑impact technical role supporting customers across Europe as they design next‑generation power systems. This position suits an engineer who thrives at the intersection of hands‑on problem solving, customer engagement, and deep technical expertise in power conversion.

The Opportunity

You’ll act as a trusted technical partner to OEMs, design houses, and manufacturing teams developing AC/DC power supplies, high‑voltage transformer‑based systems, and advanced SMPS architectures.  Your work will directly influence design wins, guide customers through complex technical challenges, and help shape the adoption of cutting‑edge power‑conversion technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical support throughout the full design cycle, from concept evaluation to production release
  • Work closely with customers to optimise AC/DC SMPS designs, high‑voltage transformer topologies, and power‑conversion architectures
  • Deliver design reviews, troubleshooting support, and performance optimisation recommendations
  • Conduct technical training, workshops, and product demonstrations for engineering teams
  • Collaborate with internal R&D, marketing, and sales teams to relay customer feedback and influence future product direction
  • Support field trials, validation activities, and compliance testing as required
  • Maintain strong awareness of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging power‑electronics technologies

About you

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong background in power electronics, ideally including:
    • High‑voltage transformer design
    • AC/DC switch‑mode power supplies
    • Power‑conversion topologies (flyback, LLC, PFC, etc.)
  • Experience supporting customers in a technical or field‑based role is highly beneficial
  • Comfortable presenting, troubleshooting, and guiding engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into practical guidance
  • Fluent in English and German
