FPGA Engineer

Senior FPGA Engineer –  Ireland – Optical & Satellite Communications

Develop the next generation of high-speed optical communication technology helping transform how satellites communicate in space. We are supporting an innovative engineering company at the forefront of free-space optical communications, developing advanced digital hardware for some of the most demanding applications in the space industry.

Working across FPGA, ASIC and SoC technologies, you’ll take ownership of complex digital designs from initial architecture through RTL development, verification, implementation and hardware validation. You’ll have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, develop high-performance architectures and contribute directly to products being deployed in satellite communication systems.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering team where you’ll have genuine technical ownership, work alongside specialists in photonics and optical communications, and help push the boundaries of high-speed digital design for space applications.

They are looking for a Senior FPGA Engineer with the following background:

• Strong RTL development using VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog

• 7+ years of experience in FPGA, ASIC or digital design engineering

• Experience developing complex, high-performance digital architectures

• Strong knowledge of simulation, verification and FPGA implementation

• Experience with FPGA prototyping and hardware validation

• Knowledge of digital design methodologies and the complete development lifecycle

• Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python, Tcl or C/C++

Experience with high-speed communications, forward error correction (FEC), LDPC, Reed-Solomon, UVM, MATLAB/Simulink or digital design for aerospace and space applications would be highly advantageous.
