I’m working with a well-backed, fast-growing semiconductor company based in Cambridge that is developing next-generation RF technology aimed at simplifying RF front-end architectures for mobile and connected devices.
This RF Engineer position sits at the centre of their product development, working on cutting-edge RF modules in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely influence product direction and see your work deployed in real-world systems, this is a strong opportunity.
As an RF Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of RF front-end circuits and modules, working closely with IC, systems, and software teams to bring advanced wireless solutions to market.
This RF Engineer role offers exposure across the full design lifecycle – from concept through to validation and production – within a fast-paced and innovation-led environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop RF front-end circuits and functional blocks to meet performance targets
- Collaborate with IC design teams working on components such as PAs, LNAs, RF switches, and tunable elements
- Integrate RF blocks into multi-chip modules, ensuring high performance and low-loss implementations
- Optimise layouts with a focus on size, efficiency, and manufacturability
- Work cross-functionally with systems, applications, and software teams to maximise overall performance
- Define and support RF test strategies alongside internal test teams
- Carry out hands-on RF measurements and debugging
- Document design decisions and share technical insights across the team
Requirements
- Experience designing RF modules or sub-systems (e.g. PAs, LNAs, filters, duplexers)
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals (impedance matching, Smith charts, linearity, harmonics, etc.)
- Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, or similar
- Hands-on lab experience using RF test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyser, etc.)
- Experience with RF measurements including gain, noise figure, IIP3, and isolation
- Understanding of 4G/5G RF front-end design is beneficial
- Broad electronics knowledge; exposure to interfaces such as MIPI RFFE is advantageous
What they’re looking for
- Someone comfortable working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to debug complex RF systems
- Confident communicator who can collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and motivated by building real hardware
Package & benefits
- Competitive salary + pension
- Share option scheme
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Flexible working options
- Private medical insurance
- Life assurance & income protection
- Additional flexible benefits
