Our client is a fast-growing wireless technology start-up. They design IP that makes wireless networks faster and more efficient, boosting throughput and cutting latency while using less power and fewer hardware resources. Their work is increasingly focused on the exciting world of Satellite Communications, and innovation sits at the heart of everything they do.

This is a Project Manager role where you’ll have real influence on the delivery of cutting-edge hardware and software IP. You’ll manage one or more major customer or internal development projects, working closely with engineering teams and leadership to deliver on commitments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting on projects across multiple engineering teams
  • Agreeing clear project briefs, requirements, deliverables and goals
  • Identifying critical paths, dependencies and risks, and keeping plans realistic
  • Working with engineering leaders on resourcing, cross-functional teams and cost profiles
  • Owning the project risk register and RAID log, and running regular risk reviews
  • Tracking project finances and providing financial updates
  • Supporting change control and scope management
  • Engaging with customers and stakeholders, including status reporting on calls
  • Reviewing supplier SOWs (statements of work) to ensure they meet project objectives
  • Contributing ideas on PM tools and processes

What you’ll bring

  • Several years of project management experience in a software, hardware or firmware development environment
  • An engineering background, ideally as a hardware, firmware or software design engineer in ASIC, FPGA or embedded environments (you don’t need to be an expert)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and delivering complex customer requirements
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery, planning and estimation
  • Understanding of semiconductor IP or embedded software IP development
  • Familiarity with system integration, test and acceptance
  • Experience with requirements management, risk methodologies and project financial tracking
  • Awareness of CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous delivery) principles

Working pattern

  • Permanent, full time
  • Hybrid, based in Southampton with regular office attendance several days a week
