Field Application Engineer

Our client is a long-established, family-owned electronic distributor specialising in premium electromechanical components (connectors, relays, switches, cables, tools, and related solutions) for industrial, automotive, and technology customers across Europe. They operate via local entities including an Austrian subsidiary, with a strong focus on technical sales support and design-in activities.

They are seeking a Field Application Engineer to be based in Austria and responsible for technical sales across Austria and Hungary. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on electronic components knowledge with strong customer-facing skills to drive design wins and grow revenue in the region.

Responsibilities

In this field-based role, you will provide technical pre-sales and application support to customers and partners across Austria and Hungary, working closely with the sales team to identify, develop, and close opportunities for electromechanical and electronic component solutions. You will conduct customer visits, technical presentations, and training sessions in both German and Hungarian, liaise with manufacturers’ FAEs and internal teams to resolve technical queries, and ensure the right products are positioned for each opportunity. Alongside this, you will maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s product portfolio and key manufacturers, and contribute to market intelligence on competitors, trends, and key accounts to support regional growth.

Requirements

• Based in Austria with willingness to travel regularly across Austria and Hungary
• Fluent in German and Hungarian
• Proven experience in technical sales / FAE / applications engineering within electronic or electromechanical components (e.g., connectors, sensors, relays, switches, power, semiconductors, or related)
• Strong understanding of the distribution model and how to support design-in and design-win activities
• Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role and managing your own territory
• Engineering or technical background (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience) is highly desirable
