ML Compiler Engineer

Europe, Remote
£100,000 - fully remote, equity in the business, be part of the Quantum Computing revolution with huge growth potential
Job ID: 420338

We’re working with a well-funded, fast-scaling deep-tech company building the software and hardware foundations for next-generation quantum computing systems.

This team is developing a proprietary compiler stack that sits at the intersection of quantum programming, real-time systems, and custom hardware, enabling scalable control of advanced quantum processors.

They’re now looking to hire Senior to Staff-level Compiler Engineers to play a key role in this effort.

As a Senior / Staff Compiler Engineer, you’ll take ownership of critical parts of a performance-sensitive compiler stack, including:

  • Designing and evolving a custom compiler toolchain translating high-level programs into instructions for specialised hardware
  • Solving complex compiler optimisation problems under real-time execution constraints
  • Optimising for hybrid quantum-classical workloads, parallelism, and hardware utilisation
  • Implementing low-level codegen, performance analysis, debugging, and validation
  • Working closely with hardware, architecture, and systems teams to ensure tight software–hardware integration

This is a hands-on role with real impact on production systems, not a research-only position.

Background:

  • Strong experience in compiler development (LLVM and/or MLIR highly desirable)
  • Excellent C++ skills and comfort with low-level systems programming
  • Experience with performance-critical or hardware-aware software
  • Background in systems, architecture, or optimisation-heavy environments
  • Experience with AI accelerators, real-time systems, CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, or custom hardware is a plus
  • Interest in quantum computing is welcome but not required

We’re open to a range of seniority levels — if you’re deeply technical, ownership-driven, and enjoy working close to hardware, we’d like to speak with you.

Why this role:

  • Work on genuinely cutting-edge technology shaping the future of computing
  • High ownership, real-world impact, and deep technical challenges
  • Collaborative, engineering-driven culture with strong growth trajectory
  • Competitive compensation and long-term opportunity
