Senior Software Engineer
Location: Paris / Montigny-le-Bretonneux / Sophia Antipolis (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
An innovative semiconductor technology company is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge SoC and chiplet design technologies, developing software solutions used by leading semiconductor and technology companies worldwide.
This role is suited to engineers who combine strong software development skills with a solid understanding of digital hardware design. Candidates with only software experience or only hardware experience are unlikely to be a strong fit. The ideal candidate will have experience across both domains, including C++/Python development alongside Verilog/VHDL, FPGA or ASIC exposure.
Salary: €48,000 – €70,000 depending on experience.
About the Role
- Develop and enhance C++ and Python software used to parse SoC memory map specifications and generate HDL code and technical documentation
- Write unit tests and troubleshoot issues across software, tooling and CI/CD environments
- Support validation and verification teams with regression analysis and debugging
- Optimise software performance, scalability and usability for large-scale SoC design environments
- Produce and maintain documentation for software modules and features
- Collaborate with architects, software engineers and verification teams to deliver robust technical solutions
- Work within Agile and Kanban development environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence
Job Requirements
- Strong object-oriented programming experience in C++, Python or Java.
- Experience developing software tools, applications or automation solutions
- Understanding of semiconductor design concepts including registers, buses and SoC architectures.
- Experience with RTL design using Verilog and/or VHDL.
- A balanced software and hardware background is highly desirable
- Familiarity with FPGA and/or ASIC design environments
- Experience with modern development tools, CI/CD pipelines and version control
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code is advantageous
- Fluent English (minimum C1 level)
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
