VP of Operations

South Yorkshire, England

Job ID: 493756

This VP of Operations role offers the opportunity to join a fast-growing deep-tech company at a pivotal point in its journey. Following significant investment and growing customer demand, the business is moving into its next phase of growth and is looking for an operational leader who can build the structure, processes and culture needed to scale successfully.

The role is based in Sheffield and looking for someone who is excited to be in the office with the teams, making direct impact on a day to day. Salary is available up to £110,000, alongside equity participation and a relocation package for the right individual.

Our client develops advanced technology that is transforming high-performance sensing and communications. Operating at the forefront of photonics and semiconductor innovation, they work across multiple industries including telecommunications, autonomous systems and industrial sensing. While the technology is highly specialised, this role is about leading the business behind it—bringing together people, operations and supply chain to ensure the company is ready for its next stage of growth.

As the VP of Operations, you’ll oversee production operations, supply chain, planning and site leadership, working closely with engineering and commercial teams to support the build of a scalable operational function capable of supporting rapid business growth.

Responsibilities include

  • Leading day-to-day operations across production, supply chain, logistics and planning
  • Developing a high-performing operations team with a strong culture of ownership, accountability and collaboration
  • Driving operational excellence while introducing scalable processes that support business growth
  • Working closely with engineering teams to support new product introduction and manufacturing readiness
  • Managing relationships with manufacturing partners, suppliers and key stakeholders
  • Leading Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), forecasting and operational performance
  • Supporting the transition from low-volume manufacturing to a more scalable production environment

What you’ll bring

  • Proven operational leadership experience within a deep-tech, advanced manufacturing or Semiconductor business
  • Strong supply chain and production management capability, within a deep-tech industry
  • A hands-on leadership style—you enjoy being present with your team and solving problems together
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to develop others and build a collaborative culture
  • Experience within semiconductors, photonics, electronics or another complex hardware industry would be advantageous but is not essential

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious business before its biggest growth phase. You’ll have genuine influence over how the company scales, working alongside an experienced technical leadership team while building an operations function that supports long-term success. Rather than inheriting a mature organisation, you’ll help shape one—making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to step into a broader leadership role with real ownership and long-term progression.
